can I shim the cutting side of my lazer power auger?

apologize if this has been asked before just ignore if so. Tried new blades and seems like I got to just about stand on the darn thing to get a hole cut. I'm not the easiest on my auger, Bang on ice when ice on cutting head, not real hard but I suspect this was the culprit. Thinking of using 1/16 shims to put a little more angle on the cutting edge.Oh yeah yes they are on right...Thanks

I have the same problem with one of my lazer augers as well.  Was thinkng about just scrapping it, maybe i will wait to see if there is a good fix for it.

well during the down time today I shimmed the auger...holy cow its never cut as fast in its life. I used about a sttrong 1/16 inch shim just in the front. I wish she had more power as I have to hold up a bit on her. Thanks for the replies.

Just took off the china blades on my lazer and put the sweedish blades on.  What  a difference.  While taking off the china ones I noticed that they did not set well at all on the auger and the angle was off to boot.  The edge on the blades appear to be a much higher degree angle and half the length of the blades on the sweedish ones.  I think a shim on the china ones would have definetly helped.
