Farmers Almanac - Best Days to fish

Does anyone use the Farmers almanac's prediction for the best times for when fish bite?
My grandfather used it all the time, and I never remember him coming off the ice skunked. 
They use the different phases of the moon, to predict when a fish will bite.  Curious as to what other people's opinions are and if they think it is accurate or not.

solunar...seems to be something to it looking back after last season and has been spot on so far this winter

Most people go when they can go and this probably has much to do with why they cannot figure out why they hammered the fish one day and the next day they got skunked. If you fish every day you will begin to notice a real pattern. If you keep a diary you really begin to see the real picture unfold. On the days that i cannot go, i have others that report to me then i plant this info into my diary. Now i only go when the fishing is expected to be good and save the not so good days for other things.Just my two cents worth

 i use it as a "guide"...certainly would never let a bit of scientific astronomic mumbo jumbo keep me from drinking pilsners and freezing my arse off.  might just mean i get home in time for the first period of the leafs game on those days that are supposed to be slow.

 at the very least it adds a bit more method to the madness we call fishing

That is true, just make sure that you set your home coordinates so that they can be calibrated to your region.

The moon phases play a role in the fish activity for sure.

I read somewhere that more fish are caught during the full and new moon phases.
New moon for more of the day hunters and full moon for more of the night hunters.

I tend to agree with this, but I feel weather is also a big key on predicting what the fish may do be doing that particular day.

A few days of stable weather is usually good.

An approaching storm can have some hot fishing.

During the storm and a few days after usually poor fishing, for me anyways.

It also good to take in account, if you can, for the oxygen, light and forage levels that's present in the particular lake your on.
Too much of one or not enough of another can affect your catch rate also.

I agree with the storm thing. Was summer fishing perch once and no bites, clouds move in,10 minute storm and perch bitting like crazy. Storm cleared fish stopped biting. This happened all day about every hour or so. Bad thing was some of the storms were thunder, needless to say hair would stand up on arms holding a graphite rod. Had to put rods down sometimes and wait. Great fishing day.

I find the moon holds true for the lakes. Rivers not so much. current and weather seem to mess all this up

i find the best day of fishing is when ever im on the lake never a bad day of fishing on mission lol i shouldnt say that now maybe i screwed myself lol
