fishfinder question

 Don't have a flasher and was wondering if the hummingbird fishing buddy that I use on my canoe would be of any use, helps alot in open water use it to find structure more so than fish probably end up dropping it down the hole the way my luck goes, but like to have an idea whats below.

It should help some just to find structure and see what depth you are in not going to be able to see lure or fish though but it's better than nothing
