Several spots along the Red from Lockport downstream to north of Selkirk, all with good access points.

Lockport you can get on the ice at Stu's at Cats on the Red on River Road.  In Selkirk you can get on the ice north of town at the airplane base near Sugar Island.  Keep going north and you'll pass a few more shanty towns with access before you get into Breezy Point area.

I'm going to Sugar Island tomorrow so I'll let you know how I did.

I hear the saugers are slammin' at Lockport, so if constant action is what you need for fishing with your wife ( ???) then try Lockport.  Sugar Island is hit and miss from all the reports.

Good luck and if all else fails on the ice....tell her you love her!!

Lake Winnipeg is absolutely addictive, at least for me.  When it is hopping you catch so many so fast and it seems they are all big fat ones.  Now the Red provides some good days as well but I'll take the Lake anyday, especially now while the access and getting around out there is still good.  That being said the fishing hasn't been spectacular yet( at least for us), but I can't wait till the switch turns on and we hammer them......man have we had some crazy days.  If you ever want to join us you are more than welcome, we go most weekends and should be out on Saturday.  PM me if you ever want to meet up.
