Another nice pike
« on: Dec 14, 2009, 05:10 PM »
Well, with temps in the 40's today I decided to launch the boat in the CT River instead of driving an hour to ice fish... This is why I never winterize my boats  ;D I grabbed a couple of rods and launched 10 minutes after leaving the house. I fished the main part of the river, the coves are locked up tight but not thick enough to do anything with. I stayed out of the current and threw Sebiles. I had 3 wicked hits and had one on for a few seconds but somehow dropped it. She felt like a good fish. I moved out to 8-10 feet and slowed down the retrieve and was finally rewarded for my efforts with a solid fish. The stick on ruler on the bottom of my boat was still burried in snow, so I never measured her but I'm guessing 38" or s0. Watched a few bald eagles and saw lots of ducks and geese moving about... Great day on the river. Looks like the cold weather will return and stay by mid week

They really are amazing lures. They aren't the easiest lure to use but once you get it down they really produce. I wish they made that same size in a hot pink.

We do have it pretty good, especially in open water. But access is limited along the river. Tidal influence and liability issues  ::)  I've worked a long time to gain access to the few places I fish.
