Adding windows to portable ice shacks
« on: Dec 06, 2009, 07:19 PM »
I'm looking to add a window to my suitcase ice shack. what is the clear material called. should I sow it to the canvas or should I put velcro on the window and on the shack, then I can just take it off when or if it ever cracks and replace it. anybody do this before?? I want the window 16" x 4"

I believe they are made of clear vinyl sheet. I would sew velcro to the window and on the shack itself. Not sure what your shack is like but it is nice to have some sort of vents. Easily fixable if it cracks or rips.

We have a local tent shop here and I see by photos on the wall they can sew a clear window in with no problem. I guy brought in a home made frame and they made a flip over cover in blue that looks like a clam. Check your phone book under tents or tent repair and you should find a local shop
