Mono versus Fluoro for jigging ?
« on: Nov 28, 2009, 04:51 PM »
I spool half my jigging reels with light mono and the other half with fluorocarbon.  I haven't really noticed a difference in catch rate and the waters I fish are fairly clear to very clear.  I would have thought that fluoro would make more of a difference.

Does anyone notice a substantially higher level of success with fluorocarbon line?  I'm talking lines of 1,2,3,4 and 5 lb. test.

Thanks in advance.

Flouro has alot less stretch than mono.  It's alot more sensitive.

Flouro has less stretch and can change your jig presentation slightly.  It works better in deeper water for a more responsive jig action.  Since the line is more stiff, it can also restrict some finesse jig movements.  Flouro line being a heavier density than water allows jigs to free fall at a faster rate.   Very helpful for light jigs.
