Went to Antero yesterday 11/21/09. There was 2 inches of clear ice. Three guys were out on the ice so we went to check it out. We drilled a couple holes only after we discussed if we"re making a big mistake. We fished for 30 minutes and left the ice after a couple big cracks and shifts. By next weekend it'll be on at Antero! We left for Tarryal hoping for less butt pucker. The ice was 5 to 6 inches and talking a lot. It sounded like a droid battle scene from star wars. We caught a ton of fish!!! Mostly rainbows 14 to 16 inches. The ice is officially ON!

Well i am jealous. It won't be on over here in New York for a couple more weeks at least. The weather has just been awful. It is nice to hear someone is having fun on the ice.

a friend told me there is some milky ice on 11 mile as well as a few boats still on it.

Thanks for the report. Was supposed to go up Saturday but things didn't work out.My biggest concern was Antero was going to look like a refugee camp.Did you catch anything at Antero? I got my
annual state parks pass yesterday and I'm going to check out 11 Mile today or tomorrow to see how it looks.

We fished 11 mile on Saturday and there was no ice on the lake. Caught 5 nice bows from the N. Shore that averaged 2lbs each. I'm not looking for fishable ice at the Mile until mid December unless Lake George is hit with a massive cold front. We may head up to Antero on Saturday or Sunday if the ice reports are favorable. Be safe and tight lines to all.

My friend iced fished a Grand Mesa lake Saturday. He killed em, tons of brook and cutts. 3-4" of ice on all the lakes, he's always first around here. Going with him Friday, hoping for 4-5", hopefully a big brookie or two. Will keep folks here posted on the outcome.

Brown-time was on grand mesa not me. To be honest I don't know where grand mesa is, but I would like to know myself.

We didn't kill em, but caught 15 between 3 of us, Cole Reservoir. All Colorado River strain cutts between 15"-19", lost a bigger one on the bottom edge of the ice. Kinda hard to get em through a 6" hole, but a hand auger is WAY lighter when you hike in through the snow.

We're coming over before Christmas this year, the 20-23rd. I'll see if I can talk my wife into the same trip again. It was a great time fishing at Antero with you last time.
