Deschambault Lake
« on: Oct 22, 2009, 03:32 PM »
Since reading this forum last ice season, I have been trying to get a crew together to go there. I figured that because they plow a road out on the lake that it would be a good destination this winter. While phoning around to see who wants to go I got a bit of depressing news about this lake. I was told by a few different people that the fishing has been pretty crappy the last few years. I was also told that the plowed road was pretty hit & miss (mostly miss). I myself have never fished this lake through the ice but thought that it would be a pretty good place to go if you didn't have a snowmobile (I would hate to drive up there & sit in the cabin all week because we couldn't drive out with a truck) Any info would be great! If there are any other northern lakes that are accessible to 4x4's I would be interested in knowing where they are.
 Thanks

I think there were a few times last year where the walleye fishing was really good there.  I have relatives that used to go up there every year, but have stopped that because too often you can go up and have bad fishing.

Hi There,, I live on the lake, Last winter was one of the best years of Ice fishing i have had. Out of ten trips maybe one we didnot come back with our limit. Some days you could pick and chose the fish you would keep. I drove out there all last winter with my 4x4 .. If you what more info let me know as I live right there and have the best info you will find.

 Thanks ashcol,
I will make sure that I contact you before venturing that far north. Because of the "rumors" about the hit & miss fishing the rest of my crew have opted for 5-7 days at Tobin Lake this ice season. As I'm working on a limited budget, I plan 1 good trip per season.
I would like to contact you in the future as I would rather go on a northern trip but I don't think it will be this season.
