Fished highland lake in the afternoon  with a buddy of mine fishing was so slow we managed one perch !!! couple flags went up nothing, we were fishing way to deep as im not a trout fisherman so i knew it would be slow. any way ice measured 12" very little slush on top and boat launch was solid. It was still a awesome day as food/drink  is always better on the ice. will try somewhere else during middle of week.  not many people taking advantage of the weather it seemed.

Glad to hear Highland is still solid. If you don't mind my asking, since things were slow for you, where about were you set up? If you want to keep that to yourself I understand completely. Glad you had a relaxing day on the ice!

If anybody had a good day on Highland this winter, it was kept quiet. Maybe thats part of the Lake Association's master plan. Once all the weeds are gone, so are the fisherman.

Trooper, are you saying that they do the same kind of chemical weed killing @ Highland that they have been doing @ Bantam?
My buds and I think the loss of weeds has had a huge (negative) impact on Bantam.

Yes they do! I guess the drawdowns aren't good enough.

There was some serious imbalance in Highland late last summer or early fall when trout were observed schooled up around the inlets, and even some dead. It made the Ch.3 news. No idea if it was a weed killing, or something natural.

Last winter was pretty good for Bantam as well, but same deal this year as Highland. I didn't hear any real good ice reports.

jebra, we were straight out from the launch almost to the other side  maybe 100 to 150yds now that you guys mentioned it there was no weeds but i thought that was because of deep water. i always like fishing the weed line. good luck if you can get on there was a solid 12in. last sunday.

now now BOYS, the real problem with that is that the only real way to fix the weed problem is to tell the association that the people who live their can no longer feed their lawns with clem-lawn. they did the same thing to congomond lake about 8 years ago maybe, and the weeds are back. you should look at all the wonderful lawns on that lake. i did not notice what it did to the fishery but i do believe that it does affect the water.
at congomond they shut the water down to swimming, so if their was no problem with the water why could we not swim in it. the people on that body don't want to give up the green lawns, in not telling them to stop using chemicals on the lawns but you don't need that much either. ??? :-[
