First salmon through the ice

[MA bass fishing]

Went to comet yesterday with massfisher and a couple of other buddies and caught my first salmon through the ice. My buddy broke one off at first light then at about 12 o'clock  I was jigging and hooked a salmon. Faught it for about 5 min  and got its head all the way out and then it came unhooked and right back down the hole it went.  So I thought I blew my one chance of the day. Then at 3 I got a flag so I run over and there was only a couple inches of line out. But then it starts going a little bit so I grab the line and set the hook and the battle begain. Took about 5 mins and I did the fish dance around the hole and landed my first salmon. It was about 22 inches long no monster but a nice fish. Will post pic later

set that drag loose and the hell with the gaff!!!!! do yourself a favor. LEARN TO PLAY THE FISH (switch to some lite line and practice on the bass)

if you get one of those monsters on and lip hook him yur going to loose the fish NO MATTER WHAT.

that's just some future advise for you dude congrats!!!
