well good trip , lots of nice people, fished out by the red huts in cooks bay , started out real slow but saturday afternoon we finally found them , not the big jumbos that we hope to get but it was fast action in 18fow for a couple hours , i could not belive how clear the water is , we started out in 32fow and i could see bottom , 18ft it was really clear it sure was cool watching all thoughs perch , we ended up with 150 in 2hrs between the 3 of us , we caught more then that but didnt want to keep anything under 8inches , all the perch we took home where 8-10inches , only one big one at 10 1/2 , no one that we talked to was catching jumbos , sunday was really slow , towards the end of the day about 2:30 i made the move to shallow water got away from every one , i was right in about 8-9fow big weeds and sandy bottom we found so real nice perch we didnt have much time but but between the 3 of us in 45min we took home 57 perch and seen alot of nice jumbos that didnt want to bite we managed to take home 207 total for the 2 days so isay it was a good trip i just wish it was closer i would go every weekend ill be back next year , going to try for some whitefish also next time .oh and it was darn bitter cold saturday ! iam still try to unthaw the fish alittle so i can clean them today .

Just a question, you said you had 3 people in your group and took home 200 perch??  3x50=150 doesn't it????
From the MNR's regulations book. S= sport fishing license and C= conservation license
Yellow Perch Open all year
S - 50
C - 25

Your possession limit is the same as daily limit unless specified. There are a couple instances I know of, like on Lotw's non-resident have a daily limit of 2 and possession limit of 4. You can't just go out and catch 50 a day, day in and day out. I looked for a exception for Lake Simcoe but can only find a certain area where 25 is the daily limit and 50 is possession. This is all taken from the mnr website. Also here is the explanation I also found. Sport Fishing Licence: For anglers who want full catch and possession
fishing privileges. Anglers with a sport fishing licence must now
immediately release lake sturgeon. In this Summary, S - refers to limits
under a Sport Fishing Licence (e.g., S - 4 = catch and possession limit of 4). All this information is available on the mnr website.
Here is a link for future reference. Just select the area you are fishing and read the regs. Also most tackle store will have free copies that should be read front to back to prevent and problems someone may incure.

Well according to your post you did break the law. Your licence does not state limits the reg's do. Your possession is equal to one days limit. Maximum allowed possession is 50 each or 150 in total for 3 anglers with sport fishing licences. Customs officers are not the ones who usually enforce the fishing regulations, so consider your self lucky. It could have been a very expensive lesson. At the extreme it could have cost you big fines plus the loss of fishing gear and the vehicle carrying the over limit. Most likely just your gear and a fine. And also all the fish would be taken.

Hey guys!
Nobody broke the law.
Here the link to the regulations http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR_E001335.pdf
Check exceptions, page 81: "Yellow perch S - 50 in one day, possession limit of 100"

I stand corrected on the possession limits for Lake Simcoe a exception to the general rules. Sorry.  Maximum possession would be 100 per person with a sports fishing licence from Lake Simcoe. I'm assuming sledheadsx6 you had a sport fishing licence and not a conservation licence. The 150 per person limit was never an option.

Best Wishes: Rick

Sorry guys i could have Responded to this as i live on simcoe... and we always get this question asked. Anyhow good thing this question was brought up for you sledhead  as i think you were under the assumption of 50 a day for as many days.. And YOu are not the only one who has fallen to this as well.. I have had a few guys from the states ask me this same question and Tell me thank you as they thought they could take 50 a day for the duration of their stay. So regardless at under 300 you didnt break the law but had you kept what you thought in the first place you may have had to answer to the MNR. Anyhow good question asked and lots of people responded and Now in the future you know:> SOmetimes its hard to get the exact answer you want as i have had people who live in the area answer this same question wrong.. SO.. Good luck in the future..P:>

Yep No one will bite yor head off.. You didn't intend to break the law and you didn't anyhow just mishap on the info.. and like you said you asked someone who you though had the info for you why would you second guess it:> I always Ask the MNr now if im in doubt.. especially when it comes to lakes and limits and then there are slot sizes on alot of lakes .. and nowadays the whole no live bait here and No live bait past this part of the province and no releasing of live bait in lakes .. so ya its easier to make the call ahead get the info you want and not have to worry about the fine later on.. . and no biggie at all you would have only taken bellybusters fish anyhow... Mine are much bigger lol.. Good luck on ya and hope to catch up with ya next time!:> BTW Im coming over to where you live and takeing home more then my share lol.. JJ tight lines and gald you had fun!:>

the only thing i didnt like about the 10 second perch clean.. is the meat when your holding the fish seems to get squiches as you have to hold it a little tighly so it doesnt slip and when your start doing a few  your hands are a little slippy:> So i kept some of that technique and my own technique that i posted on here awhile back(3 years back?) and will do it that way...
