Hello to all you iceshanty faithfuls,
I have followed this forum for several years now and thought it is time I give it a try and not just read what others have contributed. I do enjoy reading the information both locally and throughout the reaches of the ice shanty crowd.
I have been ice fishing for many years now as my dad had me out on hard water as early as I can remember. I live in the lakes region and I fish a variety of lakes in my area and I often can be found on the ice with my kids if the weather permits. I enjoy fishing for both warm water and cold water species.
I know plenty of the guys that I see post including Riverrat..... He'll remember me as big Jim's buddy who fished with him last year and caught a laker out near the hump in the bay.
I am sure I will have questions about how the forum works and I want to post some pics eventually , but most of all would like to learn and share knowledge with others who enjoy this great sport .
I guess that is a good start,
George

Welcome aboard. So far it has been great learning and sharing info for me, I'm sure it will be for you as well. I joined a few years ago but really never had the time to post...until this year...I am consciously making time for the boards now and I love it.

Hey Setterman good to have at the shanty! Big Jim came out for a couple hours last Saturday(about time)and it was good to see him. Our shanty location this year is producing much more activity and fish, having a good time, stop in and say Hi.

when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

Welcome on board. Great group of people, most are willing to share hard learned information. I know I've learned a ton in the short time I've been on.

Thanks Guys for the welcome !
It has always been fun to read all of the posts and now I can maybe contribute from time to time . I was able to get out for a few hours Saturday afternoon and tried to go to Upper Suncook lake not realizing that you can't park anywhere any more !!! It was pretty frustrating as I didn't really have time to change plans and travel much further as I only had a few hours to get out so I tried to cut over to Crystal lake and found that the state launch area doesn't get plowed out so access is very limited at best and most places you could pull over along the lake were taken so I headed to Manning lake which we fished and caught limited Yellow perch before we had to get back. Today we fished the afternoon on Winni in search of white perch and went to 19 mile bay . Things there were very slow. I went with 2 of my buddies and we had 5 tip ups out and I jigged and got no flags and I only got one hit on the jigging rod. I moved around quite a bit but never found any fish. I had the depth finder on I was ranging form 14 to 28 feet and never saw any fish . All
around the bay it appeared the same. We did see one guy get a couple flags but no fish. Hoping for better days and I still can't wait to get into some big schools of white perch

That is great advice Finless, Next time I will ask before I head out . Lucky for me Suncook was in the direction I was heading and not far from home as I live in Alton. I had not been to Suncook in two years and I should have " scouted it out better. Live and learn but I will make sure I pose questions if I head somewhere new next time.
On another note I still have some learning to do on the features of Iceshanty. I wasn't sure how to answer a post that was in the thread that wasn't the last one listed ? Also I wanted to upload a photo for my profile and I have a photo that is in jpeg form and wasn't sure what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Setterman
