I am not going to take any credit for this but byron has a good set up if you have a flip over type shanty go to good will or army surplus or wherever you can find a cheap pair of skis and mount them just a thought
I live to fish anytype but ice fishing is my passion

I have an old Fishtrap 2. I armor-all the base a couple of times a season. Wet snow won't stick to the base until the film wears off.

I mounted an old pair of X-country skis to my guide it works well. Yes the armourall or wax (car) will do the job too.

I've seen alot of items strapped to sled bottoms, ski's work good, getting them mounted is the trick,  I've also seen inner tubes, and one large snow saucer( you know the ones you used to sled in when you were a kid), They all work great on bare ice or 3 or less inches of snow, but deep snow, I don't know.
