I picked up a pair of vinyl "Ice Chaps" at Bass Pro Shops a couple of years ago. They have padded knees and keep your legs dry. I had to lengthen the straps to fit around my Carharts but they are work the effort. Especially when you are kneeling down. I think they were under twenty dollars a pair.

They do tend to collect the snow under the foot section, but I wait until I'm out before I strap them on. They are worth the effort, though. They not only save your knees but they keep the ice and water off your legs while using the power auger.

I love my ice chaps. I do alot of hole hopping and they work great. I wear a pair of thinsulate jeans poly long underwear and my chaps. I hardly even wear my carharts anymore. When I do i put my chaps on underneath. My friends make fun of me for wearing them but hey I have dry knees.
