Red River today
« on: Jan 11, 2009, 03:51 PM »
got out at about 11:00 this morning at sugar islant.  Almost right away we landed a 15 inch walleye.  About 15 minutes later we iced a fat 21 incher.  From there on almost nothing.  The only other fish was a small sauger.  Id say it was a great day since most other people were only cathching sauger.  We left at 2:00 with some walleye for supper 8)

Saturday evening I said enough of the village at Sugar and headed north with the shack. Reset the shack and drilled some holes in preparation for a sunday morning fish.
Sunday morning I went out with renewed spirits after marking fish with the vx-1 sat night.
Lots of fish on the graph but no action till 10:00 am Then nailed 3 eyes in five minutes.
The first was a fat 26", second was a 21" followed by a 14".
Another 2 hours of jigging only managed a few hits.
There really are fish in this river.
A bad day at the lake still beats armchair fishing.
