Red River Plans
« on: Dec 25, 2008, 09:47 PM »
Hello Everybody!  We are going to try to catch some walleyes on the Red tomorrow.  We haven't been there this year and didn't have much luck there last year.  We are thinking of Sugar Island or the Selkirk Airport area (never been there).  Does anyone have any advice?  Any better spots?  I am guessing that the locks at Lockport are not safe yet.  Tomorrow should be a nice day.  We will tell you how we did.  Is it possible to drive to the end of main (near Netley Creek and the Red) and just park the car and fish, or is it closed up?  Is this recommended?  Thanks a lot!  Merry Christmas!

We will be out hunting for some Red River giants as well. Try going North of the heard of shacks that yuou will see right out from the approach by the Float Plane Base. We will be somewhere from the Island up to the Bridge. It will be much warmer tommorow so we won't be as grounded (can move more). Try using a 1/4 ounce glow or rattle type jig tipped with a Slated Minnow. Also recomend the 20 plus depth mark. ;D ;D

Was out at End of Main Wednesday (24th) and was able to drive my car out on the ice.  Big action.  Slower though than around Sugar but seemed to land bigger Walleye....
May the holes in your net be smaller than the fish in it!!!!
