Electronic Fish Finder Illiterate - Need Help
« on: Dec 18, 2008, 09:37 AM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A buddy of mine gave me a Lowrance X22A a few years ago. I'd like try it out for ice fishing, but havent a clue as to how it works, how to hook it up, what battery do I need etc.

Can this unit be used for ice fishing? Does anybody have this unit or had it in the past?

Any assistance or guidance would be immensley appreciated.

PS... I've looked for the book: Electronics Fish Finders for Dummies, but havent seen it on the shelves.

Icebucket, Try googling Lowrance web site. I know they have tutorials for most of their products. And surely it would be listed there.   Lou

I have had alot of Lowrance lcd fishfinders in my time and have used most of them on the ice.  I am not familiar with the x22 though.  Do you know how old it is?  I used to have a x5 and the cold got to the lcd screen and messed up some pixels.  But now they don't have that problem.  Anyway as far as the battery goes just hook up a gel cell 12v 7ah and it should last you several days before recharging.  As far as using it, just turn it on and play with it.  Most fishfinders have a auto feature that you can use.  I prefer using mine in manual so I can tweek the settings.  It should do a good job for you.  Anything else just hollar.
Fisherman's Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish
          Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
       I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
           And peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be Judged
              BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.
