Glendo Ice Report - Greyrocks Res. Info
« on: Feb 09, 2009, 07:17 PM »
Anybody been to Glendo?  or Greyrocks lately? Heading down that way midweek and thought about camping by the lakes if the ice is still good.  Also, does anybody ever ice fish on Guernsey Res? Never talked any who fished there or saw any reports from there.  Any Reports on any of these waters would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I fished Glendo Saturday. The ice is pretty good once you get on it. I'd take a plank. I had trouble getting an ATV on it, you need long ramps and even then it's a little spooky. The fishing was slow. 5 perch, a crappie and a 10 lb CATfish between 3 of us.  ;) Lots of fish looking but not many takers.

I haven't been by Greyrocks for a couple weeks but it was mostly open water then.

Thanks for the info augergas, I didn't get to leave as early as I'd like so I won't be able to hit the water until saturday at the earliest.  Hope this cooler weather helps out a little - let me know if the bite picks up. thanks,

Hi Guys,

We did fish Glendo on Saturday.  The ice is great - the bite just sucks!  Almost no one fishing.  The ice was bad around the edges, but about a foot thick where we fished.  It is not as hard as earlier in the season, but should be good for a while yet.  Just be careful out there.  We backed the trailer into the edge of the ice/water and used two planks to put the 4-wheeler on the ice.  From there it was fine.  We fished three places along the mountain and caught (and released) a total of four fish.  One 17" walleye, one 6" perch and two walleyes smaller than the perch.  We had a few more lookers that wouldn't bite.  It may be that they are just not biting, but it seems like they have left the area.  Maybe they moved up the lake to get ready to spawn or something.  Let me know if you have any ideas.  Anybody ever do any good around Muddy Bay?  Could it just be the moon phase?  Maybe they will bite next weekend.

Good luck and be careful.
Keith

We saw a lot of open water (boat quantity) at the east end when we were coming back from Cabela's  day before yesterday. Have no idea about the fishing cause we were just trying to get off of the black ice and slop on I-25 and get home in one piece with the boat. :woot: Don   LT/ISM
