How much snow do you have up there and when do you think the antlers will start falling off?  I've thought about going up there somewhere for a day to do some partridge hunting and walking around.  I was wondering if there may be some visible sheds on the ground that haven't been covered with snow or if they haven't dropped yet.  I know people normally wait until the spring to shed hunt, but I thought it might be a cool thing to try in case partridge hunting was slow.

Cross posted on myhuntingforum.com.  I know this is an ice fishing site, but a lot of people here hunt too and I wanted to post this where the most people could see it.  Thanks

They don't normally drop much until February. It's defintely not unheard of for them to drop sooner but for the most part it is Feb/March. Most people wait cause you just won't find as many until then.

come on kid........its ice fishing season.......you have been working way too hard
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

I love patridge hunting this time of year. I saw three while on stand yesterday deer hunting. I use a 12 gauge with high brass 6's. It reaches out there and touches them. I have got as many a three birds in one day this time of year. As far sheds I know that moose loose theirs in last Jan-early feb. deer I think around the same. The pat hunting should be pretty good there are lot more birds this year than last. One of the best is rabbits this time of year they are white and if the ground is brown you can see them easily. It was -10 below this morning ice fishing should be real soon. Patridge and rabbits make great lunch on the ice.

I guess it was just a thought... I don't know.  I'm more into the partridge than anything else right now.  I'm having a hard time putting down the gun.

knurren if you dont want too stop hunting, theres plenty of coyotes around too keep you busy for a while. and you might find some sheds that way.

all you need is, camo/12 ga slugs/digital caller = dead coyotes ;D

hook up with pops when he runs my dog.  We will be home Christmas Eve abd I might try to squeeze a morning hunt in for Ringnecks.

I didn't get my pheasant permit this year, so no ringnecks for me... but I would tag along and play retriever if I had to.

I've thought about working some of the coyotes.  Try to help the deer pop. out and get some pelts in the process.

It was 17* this morning in Manchester with snow on the ground.  I guess we're getting closer to ice fishing now.  There should be plenty of ice now up on the First Conn. for the IS get-together.

A couple of buddies were out in Candia on Sunday. They reported seeing a coy dog chasing a doe around for a while. Neither of them could get a shot off.

John,

I may be wrong, but I thought they closed the Partridge season early up there for the last couple years. I just went to the F&G website. I was wrong, it's back to 12/31. BTW I do NOT hunt BEN"S dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what happened last year, but this year it states Oct. 1 - Dec. 31 All WMUs

It might be because the partridge are doing better this year?  I'm not 100% on that though.

they opened the season longer to help the economy between deer season and sled season I believe. Plus it gives the beaglers a chance to pop some birds while rabit hunting.

I drive through the Deerfield/Candia area everyday on my way to/from work. I have seen a few along 101 and 107. My Dad actually hit one on his way home a month ago.

I usually see a lot more deer, Used to see at least 2-3 a day sometimes 15-20 in a farm field in Deerfield. but this year I have only seen 3-4 a month? Don't know if it's coyotes or the tornado that came through this past summer? Definately a lot less deer though?
