Anyone ever fish oxbow lake? (off the conencticut river) How is it? I'd probably be targeting Pike, and I'd be thankful of any info. I can get about this place.

:(The oxbow will be very much flooded with the river going WAY UP from the snow melt and the 2 plus inches of rain we had. The river may rise 10 ft or more so the edges will be a mess even if the ice is usable and I think the whole place will be under water and slush.  Be careful and good luck.     ::)

Yeah hey man I've fished there a bunch of times when I was at school, I fished mostly everywhere in that lake all depths, when I first fished there I talked to some locals and some old timers at a bait store they told me all the biggest pike gettin taken down the end beyond the power lines next to 91, thats the only place I never got a chance to fish cuz everytime I got there no matter how early someone already had it covered but all the times I was there nobody pulled out anything of any size and the old timers kept me up on what was caught, so maybe that'll be of some help to ya maybe you can get there early enough to get some tilts in down that end, I'm sure theres a few decent size fish kickin around in there.

guys were out on oxbow yesterday. heard from many people in between the little pond where the marina is and the main part of the oxbow theres a little channel there good place for pike. ive been going up to pontoosac alot this year. seems like the pike are a little slimmer from the river than in the lakes and ponds.

Great place to fish. The Ice is UNSAFE as of today. The 2 day ice derby for this weekend is postponed.I like to fish it because you never know what you will hook into.! I have been fishing it for 40 years and always do well,on hard and soft water.  ;D

I live so close to the oxbow and have never fished it. Maybe I will venture out and give it a try this year?

Icebird got me to start fishing the oxbow this year, and we've done excellent for panfish and bass.  Still waiting for one of the big boys to hit one of our tips though.

definitly worth fishing

The pike in my aviatr pic is an oxbow fish from a few years ago 37".  Gets fished real hard. I live 5 min away and have fished it a handful of times this year and got nuthin.  But also some of my best days ever have been on the bow...?
