Dang...to think..you had to wait your turn in line........They should of all pulled over and let you pass ::)
Trust me I did not wait in line. Like I wanted to go fish with my family with Trash boats going back and forth. 50 of em on a small pond.  No I let them have it. I just like to take my boy to the trash ponds because there so easy to catch .  I dont like to have him get bored. As he gets older he can step up a notch. :-* :-* :-* :-*

There seems to be a lot of trash talk this year about coldwater species vs warmwater species.  I am just wondering what some of the die hard trout only people think about the fact that there are much stricter regulations for bass than for trout and salmon.  You can only keep one bass per day and under general law, you can keep 5 trout and salmon.  Based on these regulations, how can so many people think they are good for nothing trash fish?

Being a new fisherman, I don't care what I'm catching as long as I am - I enjoy the experience of being out there (sometimes freezing my bottom off) and either chasing flags or jigging and playing with my new flasher.  If I'm targeting trout or salmon and I catch a bass, hey I caught a fish!!   Am I upset cause I caught a bass rather than what I was targeting?  Absolutely not!  It's the experience of being out there whether on the ice or in a boat or on shore, taking in the fresh air and spending time with great friends and even meeting new ones  ;D  I've gone out and gotten skunked way more than once but I'm never sorry I went.

The only time I ever seem to get skunked is when I fish with you ::) ::). It's a good thing you're good company.

While Jim started this thread i'll throw in my .02. I didn't know there were any other kind of fish other than brook trout until I was 12 years old. Fished the brook behind the house and thats all that inhabited it. Once I discovered sm bass in the Saco River I fished for 'em a bunch and had a blast....even won a local derby once when I was a teenager. Now that I'm older I'm back to trout fishing, perhaps it's tradition or the challange I don't know. Each has it's following so I guess one is no better or worse than the other

bass fishing is become a huge sport not only here but everywhere people come here to fish them just as they do for trout.i think trout rwg need to be rethought if we are going to keep a good fishiery in this state.i myself enjoy all typesof fishing .that to me is what the sport is all about

I love trout and salmon fishing.  I'm sure there are quite a few people on here that see me on Sebago every weekend in the spring trolling for salmon.  I also spend quite a bit of time trolling for browns and flyfishing for brookies and rainbows in my kayak.  There are many days when I go out, put the trolling motor down and cast all day for bass.  Fishing is fun no matter what you're catching.  It seems like people are forgetting that everyone does this for a hobby and to relax and have a good time.  Why do we have to s**t on each other about what we like to fish for?

Because bass are a nuisance. ;D I would rather do chores around the house than go to catch bass, unless they had stripes. ::)

Another brilliant comment.  I wonder why Maine is the only board on this site with people that do nothing but talk trash?

I think Red and chillyW said it very nicely.
I've been fishing for trout and salmon all my life, catching bass along the way while targeting trout and salmon happens. Pound for pound, bass are the best fighting fish we have in the state of Maine. I catch dozens of 5lb bass ( smallies ), or better each year. The whole idea of spending time on the water is to enjoy the day and maybe have some action on the end of your fishing rod once in awhile, even if it is fish you didn't target in the first place. Happy fishing everyone.

my opinion about bass fisherman is there after size and numbers. I personally am after anything, I appreciate fish for there colors and beauty. Trout are colored differently everywere ya go. I like to use the lightest tackle and really feel the fish. These guys that fish for bass will go out with 30 lbs test and drag the fish across the top of the water! just my opinion.

There seems to be a lot of generalizations about what "bass fishermen" and "trout fishermen" do ::)  I guess I must be the only one in the state who likes to put a worm under a bobber, catch whatever swims by and kick back in the boat with a beer every once in a while.

well ive stayed out of this one as it was destined to be a urinating contest just from the title...you can't name a thread anything VS anything and not expect to hear from the sides that you have put up against each other. i truly considered locking this thread yesterday morning after Jim C's first post in it feeling like that would probably the most intelligent post id read on the subject. there is a lot of trash talk and i know a lot of it is in jest , yet many are not taking it that way. i guess id rather see it in this thread rather than in EVERY thread going which is the way it seems to be morphing. regardless of what you fish for whatever happened to respecting your fellow angler or his opinions?

I'll do it for you Scott.  I started it and now it is locked because there are so many mature people in Maine.
