QUINSIGAMOND DERBY 2-17-08
« on: Feb 13, 2008, 08:06 AM »
HAS ANYONE FOUND OUT IF THE DERBY IS STILL ON, I WOULD STILL THINK SO , BUT WITH THE SNOW, RAIN, SLEET AND EVERYTHING ELSE WHO KNOWS WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN BEFORE SUNDAY. I FISHED THERE LAST WEEKEND WITH ABOUT 4 -6 INCHES ( SOUTH SIDE OF THE LAKE) . DOES THE WHOLE LAKE HAVE TO HAVE SAFE ICE FOR THE DERBY TO STILL BE ON

whats up guys,

As of right now, the derby is still on! I will be driving around the lake all day Saturday checking conditions and access spots...Please fell free to call me Saturday night @ 508-523-3516 for the final word.

There is plenty of ice on Flint, just getting on may be tough....we will have to wait and see

I am bottling a batch of homemade Anchor Steam tonight for the derb so it better freeze up   ;)

Thx
Neil

Is this the Brown Square Civic Club derby?  I am a member of BSCC and have been registered for a while. I will meet up with Spike as I do every Friday night at the club and get the low-down, but as far as I know, we're on!

And yes, the derby will be on even though the whole lake is not frozen (NEVER freezes). I live on the Southern end of the lake (outside 1/2 moon cove) and we are frozen with about 7 inches of ice.  After today though, I'm not to sure!

Well,

If it is the same derby (Brown Square) just show up in the cove at the rt290 bridge (across from Fallon Clinic (near Browny point) and look for Flaggs! (Roger) that's me, or Spike, and we can get you registered right there on the spot...

Flaggs/Spike,

My derby (Joe B's 21st Annual) will be going out of the Flint Pond boat ramp on Sunday morning. All details can be found on the ice derby page. registration begins at 5 at the ramp (closes at 8:00).

Had no idea there was even another derby planned on Quinsig for this weekend? What is the Browns Civic club all about?

Good luck out there and be safe.....hopefully there is ice for both our derb's

neil

I DIDNT KNO THAT THERE WERE 2 DERBIES GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME AT QUINSIG AND FLINT!!!! HEY FLAGGS  YOU SAID YOUR GOING TO BE OVER BY FALLON CLINIC AND THE 290 BRIDGE . YOU GOING TO BE ON THE ICE OR IN ONE OF THOSE PARKING LOTS ACROSS THE STREET. THE DERBY THAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT , WHATS ALL THE DETAILS . THE MAIN THING I'M INTERESTED IN IS THE CATEGORIES. THERE ARE ALOT OF SPECIES OF FISH IN QUINSIG, IS TROUT AND SALMON PART OF IT. I'VE BEEN DOING REALLY WELL WITH THE SALMON AND TROUT ICE FISHING THIS YEAR, I HOPE ITS PART OF THE CATEGORIES!

Hey Pikechaser..

Brown Square Civic Club is a private men's club that I have belonged to for a ton of years. We get together a bunch of guys from the club and have a huge cookout  and fish to our hearts content. Friends and aquaintences are welcome. We then go back to the club and eat more and drink more. (Smokers, it's a smoking club as well, lots of cigars and pipes burning)

We keep it simple. Heaviest fish, any category, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. At quinsig, its a crap shoot on what is biting so this is why we do it this way.

It makes for a great day with friends and club members.

Good luck with your tourney! It is shaping up to be a good day. I just went by the place where we fish and its good and frozen. We park on Lake ave N, at our buddies house, and wherever you feel like parking for access.

Good luck to you guys!

yes, looks like the ice held up well.....good luck to your crew down the other end Flaggs. I know a few of my buddies will be down that way way as well chasing the salmon/trout category.

2 years ago we had a 5 lb. salmon take the heaviest fish and last year a 6 lb. bass took the $$$

Quinsig the Eskimo has produced some huge fish the past few years as the lake continues to rebound. The pike and musky are eating well with all the stockies swimming around.

Tibba,
I hope you are up early.....I think I read a great article about Tibba's point in the T&G today.....it may be loaded with people come Sunday    ;)
