Newest addition to the Fishin Machine!
« on: Feb 06, 2008, 04:16 PM »
I think I have my sled all set up now. I have added many additions to the sled and there is nothing else I can think of that I need (maybe a Vex) for ice fishing!

No more late night "45 minute quick jaunts" across the lake in snowstorms to set the cusk traps!

I think I need to name my sled.....any ideas?

Don't have a name for you, but how do you like the etrex legend?  How precise can you get with a location?

How about "The GPS Sled" or the "Satilite Sled". Was it hard to wire it up?

I was thinking of buying a PDA that will take my navionics chip. I think you can get wireless gps antenna's for them.

For what I use it for, it is perfect. I have seen it accurate down to 11'.  I use it to get me to a general location that I will recognize. I use it more when I can't see (in the dark) or in the woods and am wondering how far I have to hike back out.

For $150 you can't go wrong.

Yup, I like everything I have added.  With the auger rack and now the GPS, I am almost unstoppable. If you guys ever see this thing on the ice, be certain, it is the Duck Doctor!

I do have to get a pic of the sled running at night. The red "reflectors" on the sides are actually LED marker lights.  It is kinda neat to see on the ice. I look like a UFO!

dd love your auger mount. I picked up an old sled this year and have been trying to rig it up for ice fishing. 1st thing that got mounted was my gps on the dash. Gotta love the RAM mounts for them (and everything else).

The sled came with a rack in the back and small storage box but could be bigger. I mounted some atv gun racks to the back for the auger but love your setup. Did you make that?

I have some decent chunks of aluminum that I will be playing with and trying to rig it up better. Lacking a bucket holder. I bungeed one to the side but clipped a snowbank with it a couple of times and think it needs rethinking.

Ha Ha. Now that I think of it have you guys ever seen the "Snow Fox" They've had them down at the Hunting/ Fishing Expo at Rockinham Pk. the past couple years. Talk about Ice Fishing Tanks if you have an extra $30,000+ you could own one. Maybe when I win the lotto  ;)

Ya the rack is custom built. I gave my father the idea and he went with it. (he is a tool and die maker) It works great. I have a mile ride on a snowmobile trail from my camp to the 1st CT and the auger rides perfect!

Nope not me. But I have worked with two good ones in my over 20 yr career, lol. The rest fall into your category.
I was a Toolmaker for over 20 yrs also. Designer now. One step below the engineer, lol.
