Nice fish!  I haven't got any trout through the ice yet.  Gonna give it a try this year!

thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys.

The reason there is so much line is we fish this one lake deep for big browns.Seems the slobs like to lay on the bottom in 65' -70' of water (deepest part of the lake). When these big browns hit they run allot of line off the tip up. Notice the extra large spools on my polar tip ups ? LOL

How much line do you spool up?

250 yards per spool. I know it is overkill but I never have to respool my tip ups with new line.We use the bright orange or yellow 30# flyline backing. The bright color allows us to see which direction the fish are running easier.

I have 3 sets of  tip ups : Set 1 Polars set up for deep water  with 250 yards on each .Set 2  polars with smaller 100 yard spools for shallow water  fishing.I also have a set of Heritage tip ups for fishing in deep snow, these also have 100 yards of line on them.

Hopefully I will have a bunch of videos this winter. One of the new goodies I got is a 30gb hard drive video camera .Now I can shoot and upload video directly to my pc and the internet.

Thats first one reminds me why I don't want to get a lip gripper tool, other than when its out of the hole and for hoisting for pics.

Tell me about it... I have some awesome clips of Atlantic salmon coming through the ice but there is just too much commentary and swearing to post ::)

There nothing better than a big fat trout coming to the hole.  You guys can catch all the Darts you want, just leave the trout for me!

awesome pike and brown! i think CT has a much better trophy trout stocking program than Mass. they give us very few fish that large and many that get that large are holdovers
