Delta?
« on: Dec 18, 2007, 12:01 PM »
We have a dinner near Portage to go to on Saturday so I was hoping to squeeze a couple hours in at Delta on Saturday morning. Any word on the perch and/or walleye bite in the area? How far out are people fishing? Is the diversion producing any eyes? Anyone from the boards going to be in the area Saturday morning?

A friend and I were out at Delta just over a week ago, on Sunday Dec 9, straight out from the 'marina'. Didn't do very well for being out all afternoon ... kept only 9 perch ranging from 8.5" to maybe 11", plus one small walleye. Threw several perch 'dinks' back. At least we were out of the wind, nice and warm in my 'Ice Cube'. Had to sled out due to the presence of a pressure ridge near shore. Looked like someone approached it with a 4X4, judging by the deep ruts they left in the soft marsh bottom. Ice about a km out was at least 12" inches then, surely quite a bit thicker by now ... and more snow drifts as well.

Have since heard 'rumours' of perch being caught, but no useful details.

Thank you for that information! I'll still make it a full morning just to get out and play with some new gear. Picked up a new LX-5 last night and the Aqua Vu Scout XL that I'd like to try out.
