I was browsing through the fishing sections in a couple of stores today and saw that the summer gear is being packed away and the ice rods are on display.  Won't be long......

29 days until I plan on starting (I try and get out before remembrance day if at all possible, while being safe of course).  I have my eye on a nice little corner of a lake that is shaded all day long and with any luck I'll be ice fishing before deer hunting this season.

I'm surprised with how warm it has been here in the SE of Manitoba though.  We have had so much rain and low pressure system after low pressure system, maybe my hopes for November ice fishing will be dashed.

As I travel to Winnipeg often for business....I'm hoping that I can network with some of you guys and go fishing up there sometime this winter.

Well I live about 60 kilometers south of Winnipeg and I have a whole lake to explore this winter I'd love some help (and if its real cold, the heck with exploring, my hardside will be on there too) .  PM me when you have your next trip planned up here and we'll definitely wet some lines and catch some fish worthy of pictures.

I'm intent on figuring out the walleye patterns on this lake.  Every year some people catch nice walleye (2-5 lbs) in there and this summer I caught a half dozen off shore and a fair number of 12"-14" perch.  I never have a hard time catching all the 20"-30" pike I want on this lake but I'm determined to find the walleye and target them.

Oh and for you Michiganders its a provincial best rockbass fishery... hahahaha
