Marcum underwater cam video out devices used?
« on: Oct 15, 2007, 06:25 AM »
I own a Marcum underwater camera with the video out port for recording.  I am curious what specific type device guys are using with these units for recording. What works? I was told my Panosonic GS59 digicam will not work. Am wishing Marcum had a recorder device like Aqua Vu.

I use an old cam corder for recording my vids. Any camera or recording device like a vcr with rca inputs will work. Sorry to say I don't believe your digi camera has the RCA composite video input jack.

Before I got my AquaVu DVR, I used a Sony Handycam DCR TRV18.  It has a video input (S-video, I believe).  I had to buy an S-video to RCA adapter at Radio Shack, but after that I was good to go.
A pretty easy way to tell if you camcorder can record from external sources is to look for the "record" button amongst the other playback buttons (Play, FFWD, REW, STOP, etc.).

Good luck!

I think , but could be wrong, but the DVR from aquaview just plugs in by RCA jacks. So, I am thinking that it should plug right into the Marcum.    I would look into one when they hit the shelves at your local store.   Otherwise I use my sony handycam.

Yep, I was wrong... :P  Sorry to have given the wrong info.    I have looked into other DVR's, but they are expensive.  Sorry about that...

Thanks guys!  I tried my Aqu Vu DVR in my Marcum. It will not fit. Have an older Sony Handycam , maybe that will work. I have been badgering Marcum to produce a DVR unit like Aqua Vu , just a simple $100 box unit with memory card. I get no positive responses. Am giving them a year then dumping my Marcum as I have ordered the 4x4 Aqua Vu which I can plug my DVR unit and get 4 way directional recording. Marcum cameras are nice, just wish the had the recorder device.
