i took a walk out in fish creek saturday to see my friend.he was fishing with 2 other guys.they had caught some small pickerel, and a bunch of bass.they had also jigged up quite a few good size bluegills.probably 25 between the three of them.it was really rough walking back off the ice later in the day as the sun had started to soften the snow.not enough sleds running down the creek.

Request for our friendly snowmobilers. Hey if you guy's are out and about could you run a few passes over the main chanel, it sher would help us with walking to our fishing spots. We also appreciate the courtousy with being careful around the tip-ups, very much appreciated. I know things are slushy so don't tear up your machine or go get soaked I'm just asking because it may help out some of our senior fisherman. I know last weekend everyone out with machines were real carefull around my and my son's tip-ups so with that I thank you. I'm sure the lake is fast so have a great time while it last's.You all sure bring back alot of memories for me when I use to ride sled's. My wreck put a slow down to that so now I stay with feet and quad when I can.

I did my nightly drive around the lake and i'm pumped for this weekend.I'm seeing quad's again wich is great news, meaning the walk must not be to bad. Hope every one is ready to smoke the eyes this weekend. Still looks as little slushy but not as bad as it was. We've only got this weekend befor we need to remove the shanties so take it all in friends. 8)Lets do this.

Boy was I wrong. Unless you have a 650 quad don't even attemp to run the lake atleast on the south end.

Its 8:00 P.M and all is well.
Get your shanties off while you can.The lake is solid for now but saturday may change your plan. Gave it a go  this evening but only got her 1/2 way out. The weather looks warm for the next few days so back again with the slush. Good luck with the shanties.

The Lily Pad is off the ice and safely ashore awaiting land transport to her summer home.  There is still PLEANTY of ice. I would estimate about 20" on the south end.  I'm sure this week's warmer temperatures will eat into that some.  This season sure was short for those of us that use those "old fashioned hard side" shanties.  We weren't able to get onto the ice until the first weekend in February, then throw in 22" inches of snow, which then turned to slush and the wind seemed to always be blowing.  The fishing wasn't very productive either, at least as far as my freezer is concerned.  Only iced three walleye during an overnighter in the shanty and one good sized perch.  Where are all the Saratoga "football" perch??  Looking at the other reports, it looks like they moved to Lake George.  They certainly were not on the south end of Saratoga.  The pickerel were a constant presence and of course, those bass you can't find in the summer just love large bait!  All-in-all, not a bad season, but not a great one either.  There is still some fishing left to do provided the ice holds but it just isn't the same without the comfort of a 6 foot by 8 foot home away from home out on the ice.  Hey Fishskinner and Fishskin Jr., thank for all your help and company on the ice.  I hate to be out there alone, especially when the fishing is far from spectacular.  Hopefully next year we'll have earlier ice, just and thick as this year and our other partners will recover from their medical complications to join us more next season.  Thus ends the Lily chronicles for another season.

The last ten pages don't reflect upon his fishing trip on the 20th. I understand how this works. But Thank You for your concern,

dav

  Basher,

Thank You for the reply and up-date. I can't wait for them to turn on
(You know what I'm talking about) like they should be. Seems like
it's taking alittle longer than usual this year. Once again Thanks,

Guess i was wrong-heard tell thru the shop today the shorelines on saratoga were starting to get sloppy and a few got wet knees gettin on and off in spots.Be careful out there.

Yup, shorelines are shot  :o and you will get wet up to your knees  :-[ ...There's still an easy 10" - 12" once you get past the water hazard  ;D . So bring a plank !!!!!!  ;)
