you dont even have to worry about the spines they will work, but watch you states laws!!

There are soo many better baits to use than catfish and many local regulations prohibit game fish to be used as bait. Besides wouldn’t you have to catch the catfish first?? If using live bait stick with suckers or shiners; dead bait any oily fish works best
