Lake Ogallala
« on: Jan 27, 2007, 09:11 AM »
Has anyone been ice fishing out there? Just wondering what the conditions are like? Did the trout make it throught the summer? Are there any perch being pulled throught the ice?
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!!! Fish On!!

Not >:(

I haven't been there but the reports I heard are of good perch with a few trout in the mix. Weather this week should add to the ice.

Thanks for the report. We have been going out for quite a few years fly fishing and it is a real bummer the last 2 years watching it tumble! I hope and pray they get some water and can bring it back to what it was. I moved to Iowa this summer and never made the fall outings as usual. most of my buddys stayed home as well.

As many perch as we caught last year I would think that perch through the ice would be fantastic this winter?

I think the ice was decent, but I hear there can get to be a lot of water over the top some days due to the hydro being on.

Have been fishing lake ogallala for the past couple weekends. Plenty of ice and plenty of fish to catch. Have been catching some small perch and alot of white bass. havent got in to the trout yet. just been using a tear drop and a couple of wax worms.
