Sand Lake
« on: Jan 05, 2007, 09:01 PM »
Hit Sand Lake this morning.  About 34 inches of ice. Nice morning for fishing. Light snow and some nice fish. Caught one over 17 inches...will be good for dinner tonight!

Went out again today...what a difference!  Talk about slow, very cold too.  Only caught 5 char and one bow between 3 of us.  Great day on the ice.  I guess there is something with the barometer...yesterday was low when I hit the lake and today it was high...hoping the pressure would fall and also have some of the snow we are getting tonight.  Oh well, better luck next time!

I hear ya!  I fished out from canal #1 for about 2 hours and marked many fish on my flasher, but none of them were interested in what we were throwing at them.  Must have switched lures 7 or 8 times with nothing doing.  Oh well.  Can't all be winners!

Cheers!

I fished just out from the canal to the right from 12-5 yesterday and caught 6 char. Biggest was 14 inches. You know they are down there but they only mouth the bait most of the time. Anyone have a better spot. I am thinking of trying a new spot. Maybe back in the west corner of the lake. There is a big drop off to 30-35 feet. Maybe some of those big char are hanging out there. Good luck!

Salmonman,

I was thinking the same thing, maybe off to the left towards the hill just on the edge of the big drop off.  Might try again when the barometer drops a little.

Tight lines!
