'Naked eye' comet brightest in 30 years.
« on: Jan 12, 2007, 05:17 PM »
Hi all thought you might be interested to know that a comet is now visible to the naked eye.

It is one of the brightest comets in more than 30 years. It's called comet McNaught and "is now visible to the naked eye as a star with some haze around it on the horizon. That brightening may or may not continue but eather way, McNaught will dazzle for at least another few days.

"To see it in the the evening over the next 2 or 3 nights, find a place with a clear view of the horizon as far from city lights as you can get- Look to the West, just right behind the brilliant "star" Venus, a half hour after sunset."

"In the morning, look for the same sort of fuzzy star setting on the Eastern horizon a half an hour before sunrise."

If anyone decides to photograph it feel free to post them here.

Good sky watching. ;)

Thanks WW, I'll keep my eyes out for it.  I still remember Halley's.  That was cool.
