Matlock
« on: Dec 11, 2006, 09:23 AM »
As few people were interested in the ice condidtions at Matlock. Someone has been driving on at the end of Warner Rd but it isn't plowed so a good 4x4 would be necessary, just seen tracks. Once on the ice there is very little snow cover. Nobody drove out on Sunday, just sleds but the ice fog was thick and I couldn't see far. Ice is between 12"-18". There are cracks in the ice a foot wide and open/thin ice between. The pressure ridges are starting to form and there is 3' of open water around them in spots. I would not reccomend driving on the ice, it is hard enough to get around the pressure ridges with sleds. Fishing was slow. Three of us out and only 9 fish landed (2 walleye and 7 Perch)

Great report Ac....hopefully we can wet a line together this season
I'm going to be a little more mobile as I'm shopping for a utility snow sled right now.
Got my eyes out for a Yamaha Bravo.
