Auger extension

Can't remember the last time I used one...maybe 10 years ago in the belgrade area. I think south of Augusta there hasn't been a need.

Last time I can remember was on Moosehead probably early 2000s. I remember seeing a bulldozer on the ice in Rockwood. It was near shore, working on a pier. 40+ as I recall.
It's fishing, not catching....

In 10 years, I won't even have to winterize my boat. . . .

3 Years ago on Moosehead and the few years that proceeded that. There are times I use one when I could just barely get away with not using one, but burying my auger all the way to the handles has never appealed to me.

I just got a new ION which came with the extension.... I put it in storage, my thought was that I would never need to use it.... Pretty sad.

My friend and I hit the ice this morning and found over 20 inches in a protected cove.  The main part of the pond was about the same.  We didn't need an extension for the auger, but it was plenty to drill through.  We fished through the snowstorm and iced a Bass and about 10 Perch.  Nothing spectacular but pretty steady and no shortage of ice.
