Safety beacon (light) for overnighters
« on: Dec 03, 2021, 01:19 AM »
Never ran a safety beacon or anything similar on my clam hub for overnighters but my wife is looking to join a few times this year and safety is big with that one. I know otter makes a safety beacon. Pretty easy to retro fit onto a clam hub?

Any other suggestions other then the otter?

Thanks.

I am sure you could rig up some blinking strobing LED lights on some PVC adding some driveway markers on your perimeter for extra safety  .

I put two of these on my flip up for snowmobiles at night. Cheap and work pretty good.  Plus when i hear something coming my way i shine my head lamp out the window. I strap them on the clamps with zip ties. Two D batteries and pretty bright and cheap.

Tons of different lights people attach to their pets when they walk them in the dark. Something like that may work too.

These look like they would be a good option. Rechargeable with USB, waterproof, and they float for those trips that go south. 12+ hour run time depending on what mode you use, magnetic base and a hook for hanging. Just wish it was a 4 pack instead of a 3 pack.

I used hi vis reflective yellow caution tape. Attached at bottom of all my windows, (can still see out) snowmobile cargo box, outside of otter rod box case, outside of minnow bucket, pails, etc….What a difference! Makes it nice when packing up to in the dark. I sleep on the ice often.
