Deadstick Baitfeeder Reel Options
« on: Nov 03, 2021, 06:45 AM »
I just ordered a couple new ice rods, one of them is a TUCR 32" Deadstick and I want to get a reel for it that has a baitfeeder mode.

Last season I really fell in love with inline reels, the Black Betty Carbon is on every ice rod I own, however, it does not have a true baitfeeder mode.

Does anyone know of any inline reels that has this option?

What are your favorite reels for this application?

Thanks!

Not sure on inlines but I use the okuma spinning models. Both are 1000 size since they are on walleye rods. Both work great!

the free spool position is not what you want? can you adjust the spool tension? I have the eagle claw ice reel and i can adjust the spool's fee spool.

The 13 Fishing Descent inline reel has a deadstick spool clicker function on it that clicks when you leave it free spool and a fish takes the bait.

The Okuma Ceymar CBF 500 and 1000 are awesome bait feeder reels. I have 3 of them for me and my son. So much fun  hearing that click. Great reels for the price also.

Great reels for sure,  but he asked about INLINE reels that have a baitfeeder function.

Don't reel against the drag!!!

Ex Minnesnowta lad! You can take the lad out of Minnesnowta, but you can't take Minnesnowta out of the lad!!

Thank you everyone! I ended up ordering an Okuma Ceymar 1000.

The fresh snow on the ground this AM has me thinking about ice fishing! Can't wait!

I use to just use a fly reel to deadstick with the intention of letting the line out when the fish takes the lure.  The fly reel clicks.  ;) so just set it loose enough just to the point.

Oh and I just remember, since I've got this Shimano Curado BFS and it has a clicking drag, I suppose I could just set that up too.

My misunderstanding. Apologies.

The Okuma baifeeders are great for deadsticking!
