I hear ya, they keep laying off people here, and asking the ones that are left to do more, yet, hire more VP's, it's insanity, 3 shifts( just enough people in the building to be legal) 7 days a week...nothing stops until it breaks, yet no overtime allowed, just do more in less time I keep hearing covid is why we have lost our raises, lost our employee matches, lost our bonuses, lost fellow employees, they tell us the big companies dont want the products ( implantable hips. knees etc.) yet they beat us like wounded dogs( andI'm sure my company is not the only one)...there are a core group of people in this country ( most of them seem to hang out here) that are going to responsible for righting the ship while  a slew of them  pat themselves on the back and tell the world what a great job THEY did.. Maybe then you guy's will get a break( this old man liad down the law 40 hours a week.. that's it no matter what),, I feel badly for thos that WANT to work and lost their jobs
I tip my hat top the ladies and gent's that keep this great county moving rolling despite those that would tear it down...now I'm going home to fix my heat!

Sounds about right Joe.
They work you like a rented mule and don't want to let you go back home.
This country needs less chiefs and more Indians who are willing to work, IMO.

thanks.. wont be able to test tomorrow.. woke up to no heat on the second floor and temp at 60... figured it was a zone valve( which I keep in stock) but not so lucky, circulator pump is fried, and whoever plumbed it in didn't put isolation valves, which means draining the system... none of the local big box stores had one, I expedited one from McMaster for tomorrow.. my Wife is hitting the plumbing supply stores at this time trying to get  her her hands on one, no one stocks anything these days, if she gets one, I'll change it tonight, if not, it'' be cold up stairs until tomorrow, either way, IF I get out, it'll be local for pan fish.
mine went down on new years day got 1 at home depot

Looks like a half day tomorrow, I got home and surveyed, the rusted bolts, corroded fittings  and leaking T&P  valve and decided to start this morning,  good thing I did.
Changing the pump was a walk in the park, my first clue of trouble on the horizon  was the lack of water in the system,  second clue was all the black sediment flushed out if the system.. not in the mood to screw around,  I headed to Webb and bought an auto fill, T&P valve and a new back flow preventer  also changed the T stat for an old fashioned Honywell dial stat to fit my simple(ancient)system
.the auto flow was choked solid with crap and not functioning  , the back flow preventer was dripping..I had to make a new manifold for the auto fill, and of coarse, I had lent my propress to a friend, so I had to break out the torch and go old school..the house was down to 56 when I fired up the boiler,  after a prolonged bleeding session and a few drip repairs, I'm on my second beer it was a 6 hour battle..now the entire house is a balmy 70.. at least I wont freeze my bag off when I get out of the shower.
. I'm going fishing in the morning!

Thank you, I'm glad too, she kept telling  me go fishing  Saturday,  fix it Sunday, she was more concerned with me being  happy than the upstairs  heat, I was more concerned with the pipes freezing up stairs and then REALLY  having  a problem, they froze once, about 10 years ago when i was on a trip to Champlain and the upstairs  zone valve quit .never again, she know how to.changeva zone valve now and I keep them in the plumbing  bucket..

I'm just glad it didn't  happen a few weeks from now
.guess I should  have paid a little closer attention  in the fall..

Exactly!!!! The fish are a bonus.
It's cool. My 11 year old is even understanding it now, where he says, "i don't care if we don't catch anything, I just love being out here. So relaxing and Better than sitting at home"
Damn right. We all work our a$$es off. Fishing is our recharge.
