Ice near Sugarbush
« on: Jan 20, 2020, 12:56 PM »
I'm heading up to Shelburne for work on Thursday night and then Friday morning my co-workers are going skiing at Sugarbush. I'm looking to get out somewhere near the mountain. Blueberry Lake looks like it's the ticket. I'm not looking for spots, just curious how the ice is and if there are any other places that might be more worthwhile. If it's easier, you can shoot me a private message.

Any help is much appreciated!

You can always head west on 17 to W Addison and fish for lakers. It takes about an hour from Waitsfield.

I lived in Waitsfield years ago, but never fished Blueberry Lake.

Good luck!
The closest flag up may be the one that is behind you !

I’d love to get into some lakers but that might be a tough sell to my coworkers. Thank you for reaching out!

Ive never fished blueberry lake. But people do.
I have family in warren.
Been by there and seen people fish it.
Another option would be the reservoir in waterbury.

I have heard Blueberry Lake has some large bass (biggest I've gotten is maybe 15") but it's closed to bass fishing during ice season. I've gotten a master angler bluegill there the last two years, and never any good size perch. I think it only gets down to maybe 20 ft.

I had read online about it producing some big bass, but that's too bad the season is closed in the winter. I might have to reassess where to go then. Just tough finding something "local" to the mountain.

Depends on what you mean by 'near the mountain'  ;)

Could shoot down to Dunmore and try for lakers but that's about 50 minutes. Berlin Pond over my way has good size perch but can be tricky to find.
