Burlington Bay

Heard there was about 10" of ice around the break wall. Weather looks good tomorrow and my wife has the day off, so we're going to go fish out in front the waterfront, just because it seems like a neat opportunity. Also heard that there is a distinct distance to not go past as wind has been shearing ice off, so the ice that formed in it's place is new and thin (someone on here went from 16"-4" at Appletree Bay). How far out do you think is safe? What species are around there? If there's anything else we should know before heading out there, please share. Hopefully we can have a fun, chill day on the ice in a unique spot, regardless of our catch rate.

I have tried the break wall 3 times through the ice and never had much luck. Usually a few perch and I got a decent smallmouth one time. Good luck if you get out there.

Anywhere inside a line from about appletree point south to juniper island should have safe ice. Have been hitting spots around shelburne point for over a week, and the ice is good, varying from 6 to 10 inches. I wouldn't venture off southwest or west of appletree point though, looks like some big cracks there: http://ge.ssec.wisc.edu/modis-today/index.php?satellite=t1&product=true_color&date=2019_03_01_060&overlay_sector=false&overlay_state=true&overlay_coastline=true&sector=USA4&resolution=250m
