2 man flip question
« on: Jan 23, 2019, 01:18 PM »
Anyone have suggestions on the best 2 man flip?  My old frabill is about done, zipper is toast.  I have some gift certificates, so basically any two man flip cabelas carries.
Thanks in advance...

Do y’all pull your flip over by leg power or do ya use a machine or haul it in a truck? If you don’t have to drag it by hand get what you can afford! Weight is my main concern.
Keep it safe! JDL

I prefer the boat seats over the bench. They are more comfortable and it is easier to get at your gear stored in the sled. If you are in a colder area, the insulated versions are great.

my choice:
http://stores.clamoutdoors.com/clam/shelters/fish-trap/2-3-man/voyager-x-thermal-stealth-2-man-w-grey-sled-deluxe-seats.html

great seats, lots of room, not the lightest, but offers real advantages.

Like others have said if weight is no concern get an otter or the voyager or another larger 2 person. If you are going to be pulling it by hand more often than not than I would look at some lighter options. I pull by hand and am quite happy with my nanook.

Make a list of what you bring out.  How much space do you need and which hut can carry it.  I use my hut alone most times, so I remove one of the seats.  Only you are going to be able to figure out exactly what you need.

I have the Clam Nanook Thermal, and it is a super warm unit which is great. However, when I bought the unit and put it together the pole holes didn't line up so I couldn't lock them in place. I reached out to Clam and they sent me new poles that were drilled in the correct location. It works, but locking them in place can still be a somewhat tedious process.

I got the otter xt cabin x-over this year and couldn’t be happier.  It has a bench, it isn’t bad.  Couldn’t be happier with the otter quality. Fully insulated and it’s not to heavy

If you pull with a snowmobile, nothing beats an otter for durability. All brands make good shelters with pros and cons, but if you don't have to pull it by hand otter's durability is great and you don't have to worry about their heavier weight.

this one?

Yes but if pulling by hand that is too large and will likely kill you.  I have the cottage which they advertise as a large 1 man.  Fishes 2 fine.  88lbs empty.  Anymore than 2" of snow and its like pulling a quad.

I've had mine for several seasons and it's been great.  Had a zipper on the door get mucked up and the folks at otter replaced the canvas for free.

Has decent accessories to add on too.  The LED lights are amazing.  The 3 pocket divider is helpful too.  The bench is heavy.  You can pull it out and use a folding chair.  Otter also sells an upgrade where the bench is replaced by an aluminum track and then you can add swivel seats.
