I think I'm ready
« on: Jan 15, 2019, 04:30 PM »
After being a member for about a year and reading alot of your posts and learning from alot of experienced members, this is my first post. I haven't ice fished in over 40 years. Now that I am retired I am back at it. It is amazing how equipment and techniques have changed in 40 years. I am slowly retooling my gear and learning all over again.
I will be fishing Oneida, Sandy Pond, Fair Haven and Sodus. If you see and old guy out there by himself and doing everything wrong don't be afraid to make suggestions. Thanks

Good for you Daj!  I fished Oneida back in the 80's during my stay at Griffiss AFB and it was quite the fishery.   Take up pimplepounders offer if you need to and things that are fuzzy will become clear.  Sometimes old tricks are the best tricks but you're right things have changed but in a good way and the options are endless.

Joining you as a new guy, last time I tried I was 12, 40 years ago, tried a pick ax to cut through ice, ended up mooching holes using summer spin cast  pole.

Oneida is fun grandparents have a place in Cleveland love that lake. Can be a tricky lake to fish
If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman
