Strikemaster Magnum III carb wanted
« on: Dec 05, 2014, 10:28 AM »
Anyone have or know some one who has an old broke down Strikemaster Mag III auger.  I need a carburetor.  There is something wrong with the carburetor body so not repairable with a rebuild kit.  It has a TC300 Tecumseh engine and the carburetor is a Walbro WTA-4B.  I'd be willing to buy the auger or just the carb.

D roc is good people I bought a new power head for mine a few years back when my old one seized.

On another note, there is a shop here in belgrade that might be able to help.  They were a tecumseh dealer before they were bought out.  Chances are they'd know where to get one.  Great people to work with.  P.M. if you want the info or google belgrade sales and service.

I'm not sure if D-Rock has the original or not.  That carb has been replaced with Tecumseh 640241 A.  I just picked one up at Jack's Small Engines for $55.  I think it is a Zama.  Does your carb have high and low adjustment screws?

U can buy a new-in-box tecumseh power head?

Just an update in case any one cares to know, maybe someone will search this thread for future use.  The Walbro carb has been discontinued and no replacements exist except for the ones that are on existing powerheads.  I have ordered parts from D Rock in the past, helpful people but I knew they did not have replacement carbs b/c I asked them last year.  Anyhow, I'm still in the market for a replacement carb if someone has an old Strikemaster Magnum III Plus 49 cc 2hp that has a serviceable carb.  Otherwise:

Ice Auger for sale, $35.  Runs but needs work  ;D

Treekiller, I think the carb that I mentioned earlier will work.  Get on Jacks Small Engines, click on the Tecumseh icon and type the model # listed on your engine.  It will be something like tc300-3194c. D-Rock is an awesome source for auger parts, but not so much for engine parts.

Thanks wyogator.  I'll look into it.  Found one potential on a mower parts site.  I believe the part number is 632321A but supposedly the 640231 is a replacement.  Also sent two emails to some other small engine repair shops.  If I have any luck I'll have to delete the last post and replace it with a success story.

Also if in a pinch you can find parts at parts for scooters.com all these auger motors are basically scooter motors.

I just went through this with that exact auger. Mine is from when I first started ice fishing as a teenager so don't want to give it up yet. I bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00M3CXBLS?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title
It's just a cheap carb but it got my auger running so I can drill holes again. It doesn't purr like a brand new auger. For the 12 bucks and free shipping, I can't complain much. I think I need a new governor spring now to get it actually tuned right. I had to swap the butterfly valve and rod to be able to attach the air vane back up.  Took 5 minutes to do that and then was a perfect fit.

I ran into the same problem with mine multiple times.  I finally decided to buy an Ion.  Never going back to Strikemaster

This is an ancient thread but that auger may still be around. It's not in my possession but I know who to ask. I got a new auger 4 years ago. Maybe I can revive the beast! Thanks for the info!

I know this is an old post but I have ordered many carbs from amazon over the last few years and never have paid more than $12. most of the small engine carbs are similar. My Frabill auger that they no longer make >:( needed a carb and I simply entered the 43cc engine size and it returned many options and I found one that fit perfectly.
