whats the best portable battery operated aerator on the market for my engel minnow cooler? the factory pump didn't last very long and I tried to get customer service to order a new one but they never replied.

I have had the best luck with the "Hush Bubbles" or "Quiet Bubbles" units from Marine Metal Products.

I didn't care for the stock Engel unit and swapped it out for a Frabill AquaLife unit (about $10). Much quieter and just as easy on batteries.

There's also a "Premium" version that come capable of accepting a transformed 12v input (included) or 110v (not included), bigger stone and three mounting options for a little over $30. I did find one on sale @ FleetFarm for $25 a couple weeks ago.

I hate the sound of a buzzing aerator in the quiet of the outdoors or in a shack.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

I have a marine metals power bubbles unit !! with a 12 volt cig lighter power cord.. but heres my question for you the op or orignal poster . is why do you need it??  Reason I ask it's cold out I get 5 dz minnows in a 5 gallon  bucket and never need it!! Just being honest to ya  we fish 3 day stright in 30* weather as a high with no areator.. put it this way you hook any areator to them it kills the minnows..  quicker  from to much oxygen!!  cause there matabilizim speeds up in the cold..  and they don't need as much oxygen..  wich too much oxygen will cause the minnows to die.. minnows like emeralds etc are hyper sensitive to this!!

I have a small Oxygenator and it makes no noise. I don't think they make the small size anymore. It converts water to oxygen and hydrogen. The hydrogen rises to the surface and the oxygen is absorbed back into the water. It does a great job.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

The ice thing works great while on the ice too. I usually throw in scoops throughout the day to keep them cold and to introduce fresh water into the bait water. A couple plunges with a scoop (or net) every once in a while helps also. It breaks the surface tension allowing greater gas exchange (just like the aerators but on a much smaller scale). For a few days worth of bait, it’s seemed to help longevity IME.

Keep em cold with oxygen rich water and they can last their life span in a bait tank.

Yup I'd you don't cool them down enough before tosing down the hole on a hook the colder water can and will shocks the minnows that's why I like throwing a few scoops of snow In the the bait bucket when I get there if I can??
