Jigging rod/reel question
« on: Dec 03, 2018, 04:49 PM »
So I'm looking at buying a jigging rod with no reel seat. Should I buy a reel wrap kit to put the bands on it or it there another way of mounting the reel with household items such as say electrical tape to hold it onto the cork? I don't want to spend the extra money if I don't have to but I want to make sure the reel is securely mounted to the rod. Thanks.

I'm partial to the castrating bands you can get from any of the "fleet" type stores for cheap or good ol' electrical tape.

Painters tape underneath and electrical tape over the top.  Paint tape helps keep the electrical tape from pulling bits of cork off.  Castration rings work great too but they can leave a bit of impression into the cork.

I have both of these items in my garage. Thanks very much.

I just use athletic wrap, it only sticks to itself so it wont wreck the cork

Ice Vice from Eyeconic! No tools to get them on and they hold WAY better than castration bands. Plus you dont get the tape mess. I was a tape guy until I found these. Plus they look cool  @)
