Ice Circles
« on: Jan 19, 2018, 04:51 AM »
Well the ice went out here on the Delaware and wiped out some ice fishing spots, but the ice slush is back with the  cold temps..

I thought a few of you guy's might enjoy seeing these ice circle pictures I took . Normally the ice just forms and move downriver in random shapes and sizes, but conditions must have been just right for the formation of these ice circles.

That's funny hunts2long.
Glad some of you guy's liked the circles.
Definitely something you don't see very often , and I don't remember ever seeing them anywhere before.
When the ice circles ended, I drove down river a little to see them again and get some more pictures and video before they drifted out of sight.

Mother nature works in strange ways sometimes.

Thanks for the info and link mike304....never knew that they had a name...ice pancakes.
I just googled them and found out about their formation.
I just described what I saw as ice circles...thanks again.

The weather channel had a piece on the ice circles during an extreme weather show.
