Who's been out
« on: Jan 26, 2006, 04:04 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has been out doing any fishin lately.  I know it has been cold as a witch's titty out there lately, and isn't supposed to get up above zero until saturday or sunday, but that doesn't stop the hardcores from gettin out there.  Was thinking of headin out somewhere on sunday, but thats just an idea.

Fishing is not about life or death, it is much more important than that! And all I have to say is FISH ON baby.

Hey Baiter-
went out after kokanee on Monday with my son and son-in-law. We snowmachined into Elephant Lake and built a big fire between the three holes we drilled. Stayed reasonably warm jigging that way and caught our limit. Actually we kept fishing and releasing but quit when the wind came up and it just got too cold.
Here's hoping for warmer weather!
Pete
See you up the trail.

Finally got above zero here in A-town today, a whoppin 2 degrees out, hopefully get out tomorrow fishing.  It is supposed to get up to around 10 above.  Next week should be good fishing I hope, it is really supposed to warm up, get up to around 30 degrees, but you can never believe the weather man. Tight lines.

I sure wanted to get out but both Chef and I had tasks at home to catch up on.  Hopefully I can get out next weekend.  At least we have ice.  My dad said today that the Wisconsin DNR is telling guys to get their shacks off the ice.  It was in the mid 40's there today with rain.  Yuck!

Well just got back from the CCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOLLLL LD state of AK. My first time there and what a place.  Even in the -'s the place was amazing.  Didn't do a ton of things while there but I did manage to get some fishing in.  Down here in PA it doesn't look like ice is going to happen this year so I had to get my fix in.  Stayed on the Air Force base since we didn't have a clue where to go but we managed to land a ton of trout (rainbows), and maybe a few small land locks.  Fish went from 2" - 23", yeah I got a 2 inch fry on a spoon and not by his choice. Most fish were 12"-18". When I get my pics downloaded I will post them.

Tooooo much ICE!!!!  It's extension time on the river...  We used a 20" extension and had only 5" of room left. :-[  Kinda funny watching my partner who's all of 5'7" handle an auger with a twenty inch. extension!  Like a lawn gnome trying to pole vault! :D

 Got out for a little river fishing yesterday, no luck on jigging for burbot but I did get smart and leave a set just as I was leaving for the day and had to really hurry. You see, I got a call from my wife saying I got recalled to a fire at the powerplant on Ft. Wainwright. That was around 5:20 or so in the afternoon, needless to say I finally got home about 12 hrs later and got some sleep. I did go back this afternoon to retrieve my set and was I suprised to see my first winter burbot pop his head up thru the ice hole :flex: which completely made my day. The ice hole was not even frozen shut since I covered it with a piece of carpet and a pile of snow  ;D . Now I'm gonna have to do it some more since the weather is a little nicer and the fish are bitting again.
