Trash
« on: Jan 08, 2018, 10:28 AM »
I went out yesterday afternoon for an hour to give my new smitty sled a test run. It had warmed up slightly and I was pumped to get out for the first time of the season. I followed the only tracks on the ice and what should I find? Two used propane canisters, some twisted tea cans and an empty gatorade bottle (and numerous cigarette butts). Berlin Pond has enough issues with the surrounding NIMBYers complaining about trash, why do these lowlifes have to live up to the perceived reputation? I'm sure no one on here leaves their trash so this is just a pointless rant, but it really pisses me off. It's easier to carry it out after it's used than carry in, so what is the point. I know there can be a cost to disposing of propane canisters, but that is just part of using them.I see this disc golfing as well. People carry in a full 6 pack and discard them throughout 18 holes.  Clean up or stay off! /endrant

I couldn't agree more!  In an effort to keep our name as good outdoorsmen (and women) I always pick up when people leave this stuff behind.  I hate cleaning up after others but I would rather take the two minutes to grab their junk than hear from the general public that we are inconsiderate folk.

Definitely! I picked up this stuff, no way I could just leave it.

I don't bring much out so I don't have to bring much back.

When you leave the ice, the only thing you should be leaving behind is the holes.
May the fish be with you.

Glad to hear other people pick up trash that others have discarded. Oh, and for the others that think littering is ok... putting your garbage down the hole does not count as removing it

just what we need: someone leaving crap on Berlin Pond. It's not enough to litter, but they have to give ammunition to the pond-nazis too.
May the fish be with you.

They must’ve had a slow day fishing to smoke three packs of Newport’s!!!!!
Never understood not picking up after yourself. Aside from some dried up maggots and maybe a few bait fish you should never leave anything.  Can’t stop stupid though!!!

Slobs are everywhere.  That's why Vermont has Green Up Day, a.k.a. The Day We Pick Up After Our Slovenly Alcoholic Neighbors.

Couple of Bud Light empties, some Slim Jim wrappers, and an empty Copenhagen can.  I also like the guys who piss on the ice and leave a nice yellow calling card for everyone.

Nothing purer than that.

Good, then go buy yourself a private lake and piss all over the place.  While you're at it, take a few dumps in your private pond, too.   And throw some trash around to make yourself happy.  People who think like you piss in public pools, too.

Here is something maybe nobody else has told you:  the waters of the State are public - they don't belong to you.  If can't control yourself and don't want to carry a piss jug, then maybe a diaper is in order.

You, your mommy, and maybe two or three of your closest friends don't mind seeing your pee-pee.

The rest of us out on the ice don't need it.

LMAO arrogance is something this forum can do with out!

Totally uncalled for. Urine is quite sterile. Unsightly, yes, so kick snow over it.

If you have to pee on the ice, you have to pee.  If you can hold it great, but I don't think that a few people peeing in or on the lake is going to make much difference.  Especially when our towns keep dumping untreated sewage/crap into the lake.

Unfortunately the state seems to allow raw sewage to be released during high water events when the waste facilities get over run. I have noticed many farm fields along Lake Champlain recently being installed with drainage which removes the water from going back to the aquifer and then flows where? I would think the State of Vermont should spend their valuable legislative time taking care of serious issues rather than legalizing drugs.

Yea why don’t you check wcax website today about the millions of gallons of sewage our state dumps in our waterways “accidentally”. If you want to be some sort of piss and feces police go tak to our state and quit b***hing at people on some website about it. U must not be a very serious angler if you never fished long enough to have to urinate. And don’t bring my mommy into this you probably pee sitting down just like her.

Alright everyone, let's be civil now. Treat all lakes like state parks: carry in and carry out. If you must pee, aim you trouser trout towards a hole or cover your trace with snow, and if you must release a brown trout, make sure that goes in a hole too. Any and all brown trout left on the ice is just shameful! Now let's get back to fishing.
