Granby and Williams fork status
« on: Dec 31, 2017, 12:39 AM »
Here you go.   Both lakes.  Wide open.    Was gonna go ice willys for some first ice lakers... nope.  Shoulda brought the big rods instead.

Colorado’s ice season is an effing prison on planet bull crap, in the universe of this sucks.    When is it going to get effing cold here?   It was 55 degrees in grand county.   I don’t have the money to drive to Nebraska every weekend and I’d rather French kiss a pacific lamprey than fish South Park.

That's going to be a hike back to the parking areas.
The secret to fishing.....fish where the fish are.

Did manage to get on 5 inches on the NW side, towards the dam. 41 ft of water coughed up my 1st Lakers of the season :-) got 4 total, nothing bigger than 16in. 2 on white tube, 2 on brown tube. Only fished hour & half, from 3:30-5:00.

I seen it lots lower though to where the 3 rocks are above water by pike flats.   Kinda typical year for the fork... now the lake that is waaaay high for this time of year, is granby.  Probably explains why there’s no sign of ice.... the guy at granby bait n tackle was on his boat yesterday,    Said he was still catching em good.

I wanted to hit the east side but nothing was open.   I didn’t check out the sheltered dam side.

I have to give my kiddo back to his mom tomorrow for a week, so I might go check out a few spots up north and see if they are good.   I heard from Bennett’s that the hag has fishable ice, I might check out there or bone-tree.

Thanks for the info, Dave!  Plenty of front range ice now!

I like the lamprey reference...and I'd rather floss the teeth of a pissed off tiger shark than drive I-70 on a weekend!  ;D
Flags up, gentlemen!!!
