Frabill aegis 2110 flipover question
« on: Dec 22, 2017, 01:48 PM »
Trying to finish my frabill aegis 2110 assembly and I was looking for tips or comments on how to install the rubber weather strip around the sled and excess material?

Not sure what you are trying to ask? You don't know how to put it on? or You are asking for different ways to put it on? I have done it with and without the screws, I have a Recon unit too. The Recon I used the screws, the Aegis I did not and I haven't had an issue with either one. As far as excess material, I didn't think there was really that much to worry about. I have also read about people that have used binder clips (about every 6 inches) instead of the trim piece but they had the intentions of removing the cover every year for storage. I have always stored mine with the covers in place and had no issues but I usually do remove my windows for storage at the end of the season. I've had the Recon for 3 years and the Aegis for 2 years and have been happy with both units.

I used a hair dryer on hot to make the trim piece more pliable for my clam. I'm assuming the trim pieces are similar.

i built a few flips now (including this one and returned it) and i use what ever clips i have handy even clothes pins to keep the fabric in place while pushing on the rubberized trim strip. just make sure the front of the shanty while open is on the ground. try to keep corners in corners on the tub and try to center every thing.do some dry runs on finding center points and lengths. then go for it. see if you can go w/o the screws that hold the trim strip. i quit using them three shacks ago.

for hyfax, just install the runners onto the nose or front first. it is super easy to over tighten the screws they use, so be careful to not do that. also add some sealant to the screws and don't make the hole too big for them in the tub.

....soak the trim in hot water for a few minutes.  Easier to install.
